(Atlantic) Atlantic and Glenwood square off in a non-district football game on Friday night. The Trojans won an overtime thriller at Glenwood last season, 35-34. Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer noted the most significant difference from previous seasons’ matchups this season: it was week three for the Trojans, after picking up a zero-week contest with Thomas Jefferson.
Coach Brummer says Glenwood is a good football team with size on the front lines. From what he has seen, the Rams go 6’6, 6’4, and 6’2 in the trenches. Coach Brummer says defensively, they don’t match up pound for pound with the Rams’ front line, but they compensate for it with speed and quickness.
The Trojans rushed for 3,189 yards one season ago. Coach Brummer says it’s no secret, they will attempt to do the same thing with Gavin McLaren returning in the backfield, (795) yards last season, and the speedy Ethan McNeal, (584) yards rushing one year ago.
Coach Brummer says the game will come down to limiting turnovers, penalties, and knowing their assignments. We will broadcast on 95.7 FM and live stream on WesternIowaToday.com, as well as on TV and YouTube.
