(Greenfield, IA) — Jack West is still looking for his first win as Head Coach at Nodaway Valley — the Wolverines went 0-8 last year and enter the season with a 25 game losing streak. The last win was October 15, 2021 against Panorama. However, there is no NEW Head Coach this year — West says that there is finally consistency in the coaching position and that should help
West’s first chore this off-season is to figure out his quarterback after Eli Harris graduated — Harris was also the leading rusher but West has settled on Sophomore Titan Foster as the new QB
West does say that 3-4 kids are still battling for the starting running back position and he says they will all get carries at some point. On the defensive side, the Wolverines lose All State Trent Warner but West says there is a lot of experience up front.
Nodaway Valley will be in Class A District 7 with AC/GC, AHSTW, Central Decatur, Mount Ayr, Riverside and Southwest Valley so there will be no off weeks. For the rest of practice, West has some simple goals to prepare for the opening game
Nodaway Valley will scrimmage Perry on Friday, August 22 and opens on Friday, August 29 hosting West Central Valley.
