(Atlantic) An Atlantic golfer had a record-setting day at the 2025 Tournament of Champions at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club last weekend. Zach Christianson set a new tournament record, shooting a 10-under-par 59 on day 2 of the tournament. His three-day 192, (-15) is also a new record, breaking the old record of 13 under par.
Christianson’s game has been trending in the right direction this season. He was extremely close to qualifying for the U.S. local at the Cedar Rapids Country Club this past spring. He had a chance to be eligible for the U.S. amateur in Beatrice, Nebraska, missing it by four strokes while carding four penalty strokes during his round. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday ahead of the T.O.C., Christianson put three solid rounds together at the State Amateur and finished in eighth place.
Christianson started his opening round shooting seven under par. He birdied the first hole and finished the day with a 62. He credits some of his success to his traditional first-round grouping of Ryan Clark, Jeff Gude, and Carter Trewitt.
He started each day with a birdie on the first hole. He did not have a single penalty stroke in each of his three rounds.
Zach kept the momentum going on day 2 with a record-setting ten under par 59. But it wasn’t the first time he shot a 59.
Christianson shot a 27 on the front nine, and when he made the turn, the goal was to shoot a 59. He parred 10,11, 12,13, 14, birdied 15, 17, and 18 to seal the deal.
Next up for Zach Christianson is the Mid-Am qualifier and the four-ball qualifier. He hopes the putter stays hot and can qualify for one or both of those tournaments.
Zach and his wife Katie have two children and are expecting another child in March.
