(Iowa City, IA) — Iowa Football Head Coach Kirk Ferentz says there are two key areas for his team to succeed — the quarterback and offensive line. With Mark Gronowski taking over the starting QB job, now Ferentz must find a way to block for him. The Hawkeyes have a competition going at left tackle in camp with Junior Jack Dotzler from Waunakee, WI who played in four games last season and Sophomore Trevor Lauck from Indianapolis who only saw action in three games in 2024. Ferentz says nobody has an advantage right now
Another player who could fight for playing time at left tackle or somewhere on the offensive line is transfer Bryce George who is a 6-5, 312 pound All American transfer from Ferris St. who played on three Division II national championship teams. Ferentz says he is not quite up to speed with the rest of the guys yet
Iowa opens the season on Saturday, August 30 against Albany.
