(Audubon, IA) — Fall sports begins today — football, volleyball, cross country and girls swimming will begin their first official practices today.
The Audubon football team will begin practice with high hopes after a strong 10-1 season a year ago, falling to Remsen St. Mary’s in the 8 Man quarterfinals. Head Coach Sean Birks says the summer started with getting the kids into the weight room and he was happy with what he saw
Birks has Senior QB Carson Wessel returning to lead the offense; Audubon loses starting tailback Aaron Olsen. Birks says his depth on the offensive and defensive line is as strong as it ever has been. Injuries were an issue last season and Birks says his team is healthy going into this season
Audubon will be in District 9 this year with Ar-We-Va, CAM, Coon Rapids Bayard, Exira EHK, Glidden Ralston and Griswold. Birks has no problem with the new district
Audubon will have a three way scrimmage against Bedford and Woodbine on Friday, August 22 and they open the season on Friday, August 29 hosting Remsen St. Mary’s
