(Lincoln, NE) — The Huskers will put on full pads for practice this week, and head coach Matt Rhule is proud of the team’s progress as their first match-up of the 2025-2026 season approaches.
Rhule credits the team’s work ethic, and says there is still a lot of progress to be made:
The Huskers have already fell victim to injury this season, with Mac Markway tearing his ACL during the first week of practice. Markway had torn his ACL last fall right after transferring from LSU, where he recorded 16 yards for one touchdown his freshman year. Rhule gave an update on Demitrius Bell, one of the country’s top wide receiver prospects in 2022 who had suffered an injury just before the beginning of last season, saying that he’s expected to make his Nebraska debut in the first half of the season:
Nebraska finished last season with a conference record of 3-6 and an overall record of 7-6. They finished the season with a 20-15 win over Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl. Nebraska and the Cincinnati Bearcats will go face-to-face at Arrowhead Stadium in the first ever ‘Kansas City Classic’ on August 31st with kickoff set for 8:00 P.M.
