(Atlantic) This week, August 3–9, marks the 26th annual National Farmers Market Week, a celebration of farmers and market organizers who strengthen local economies and promote healthy communities. Ciara Hoegh, Market Manager for Produce in the Park in Atlantic, says farmers’ markets play a vital role in connecting community members with local food producers.
Produce in the Park is held every Thursday at the Atlantic City Park from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. According to Hoegh, they always accept more vendors throughout the farmers market season. Hoegh says they have a one-time sign-up fee or a four-time sign-up fee for someone wanting to test the market.
Various community organizations will be on hand this week at Produce in the Park–including ARISE, Healthy Cass County, Atlantic Public Library, and Zion Integrated Behavioral Health Services–will be set up at the park on August 7, offering resources, information, and activities. Additionally, members of Southwest Iowa’s Civil Air Patrol are bringing a flight simulator and aerospace activities for younger kids.
