(Red Oak) The Montgomery Board of Supervisors approved the low bid of MDX Construction L.L.C. from Sidney for the G Avenue pipe culvert project, located south of 180th Street, for $138,625.00.
The bids for the project were due at the Auditor’s Office by 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14, and the supervisors opened the four submitted proposals at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15. The supervisors approved the bid at this (July 22) meeting. County Engineer Karen Albert reviewed the bids to ensure that everything was ready for the supervisors to vote on today.
The four submitted bids are as follows:
*Gus Construction Company, Casey, Iowa-$196,396. 40.
*MDX Construction L.L.C., Sidney, Iowa-$138, 625.00.
*Empire Construction and Trenching, Red Oak, Iowa-$151,469.00
*Nelson&Rock contracting from Onawa, Iowa-$186,576.00
Representatives from TKE Elevator Company presented a proposal for the maintenance of the courthouse elevator. They mentioned the age of the equipment is getting past its expected useful life. The expected three primary maintenance items include a new controller (the brain of the elevator itself), a new power unit, and new door equipment, as well as any other upgrades that may arise during the project. The supervisors will discuss the project in the near future.
In other activities:
*The Supervisors approved the 2025-21 Interfund Transfer Capital Projects 19999 to Debt Service Fund 19600 FY2025/2026.
*The Supervisors approved claims payable for Wednesday, July 23, 2025, for $237,567.60.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
