(Guthrie Co) Guthrie County Attorney Dana Minteer provided an updated to the Board of Supervisors this (Tuesday) morning.
Minteer said the numbers aren’t exact, but they currently have approximately 30 active District Court cases classified as D felonies or higher, around 80 District Associate Court cases involving indictable misdemeanors, and about 32 Magistrate Court cases. There are 96 active payment plans, 33 payment plans that have been prepared and sent out, and 57 payment plans that have been revoked — which, she noted, is a significant number.
Minteer said they have had four jury trials so far this year. She noted that Stuart recently received body cameras, which have played a significant role in these trials.
Minteer said mental health committal cases are on the rise.
Minteer said they have also seen an increase in forfeiture activity. Civil forfeitures occur after someone has been convicted in a case and is found to have had a suspicious amount of money, firearms, ammunition they weren’t permitted to possess, or similar items.
She also noted that the Department of Corrections recently implemented a new policy—of which they were only recently made aware—that will lead to a significant increase in early discharges for individuals on probation.
Minteer also reviewed the training sessions, meetings, and conferences her office has attended so far this year, and discussed some budget items.
