(Des Moines) Gas prices across Iowa held steady this week, with the average price of regular unleaded gasoline remaining at $2.93 per gallon, according to AAA. This is unchanged from last week’s average and 36 cents lower than the price recorded one year ago. Nationally, the average for regular unleaded is $3.16, also unchanged from the previous week.
Retail diesel prices in Iowa saw a slight increase, rising by one cent to $3.53 per gallon. A year ago, diesel was priced at $3.55 across the state. Iowa’s current diesel average is 20 cents lower than the national average of $3.73.
In the crude oil market, prices dipped this week. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil fell by $2.02, now priced at $66.55 per barrel. Brent crude dropped $1.67, settling at $68.67. One year ago, WTI crude was $81.92 per barrel, and Brent crude was $86.60.
Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site rose 37 cents this week to $3.53 per MMBtu.
Retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa will resume reporting in October.
