(Des Moines County, Iowa) One person died and another individual suffered injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Des Moines County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened late Friday night at 16015 Des Moines County Highway 99. Authorities identified the driver as 20-year-old Kelsey Lou Orth, of Burlington, Iowa. Ava Grace McCulloch, 28, of Burlington, was injured in the accident. Burlington Fire and Rescue transported McCulloch to the Great River Medical Center. Prugh Funeral Service transported Orth to the State Medical Examiner.
According to the report, a 2008 KIA Sorento traveling at excessive speeds on Highway 99, lost control, entered the west ditch near a driveway, struck a culvert, launching the car into the air, and rolled several times before coming to rest on its top.
The driver of the KIA was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
