(Atlantic) Strong winds and heavy rain moved through parts of Cass County late Thursday night, bringing down trees and large limbs across the area. A 62-mile-per-hour wind gust was recorded at the Atlantic Municipal Airport, according to the National Weather Service.
Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon stated that the powerful winds caused street flooding in Atlantic and resulted in temporary road closures.
Kennon noted that, so far, few damage reports have come in from rural residents. Looking ahead, the forecast includes a 65% chance of thunderstorms today, with a high of 82 degrees. Tonight’s low is expected to dip to 64, with just a 20 percent chance of additional rain.
