(Atlantic) In April 2023, fundraising efforts started for a new Splash Pad in Atlantic. Construction began one year ago and opened on May 26, 2025. On Friday, July 11, 2025, the community’s youth will take part with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Jeremy Butler co-chaired the fundraising committee.
Butler says they are going to let the kids of Atlantic cut the ribbon tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. He says they have about 20 pairs of small scissors, and anyone is welcome to bring their own.
Butler says this is a sense of pride, and it will be good to close the door on this project and focus on the other projects going on in the city. Butler added that the addition of the Splash Pad has proven to be beneficial to the Sunnyside Pool.
The Splash Pad covers approximately 5,000 square feet. It features a unique kidney shape, showcasing a variety of interactive elements, including fountains, spray pads, dump buckets, water cannons, and a first-of-its-kind rabbit racer located next to the dump bucket. The facility includes several areas: a toddler bay with a button that activates features for children aged three and under, a family bay in the center, and a section at one end featuring a large dump bucket.
