(Council Bluffs) The Pottawattamie County Supervisors met yesterday for their weekly meeting and discussed updates on the Pioneer Trail pipeline with Regional Water. General Manager Tom Kallman was there to give the update on the Pioneer Trail pipeline and also brought up the temporary booster pump station and the water conservation status.
On May 30, Kallman was notified by Hulstein Excavating that substantial completion was done on the pipeline. Now, water is flowing through the 12.25 mile long pipeline.
Kallman later stated that they are pumping nearly 224,000 gallons of water a day to the Avoca Plant from Regional Water Temporary Booster.
According to Kallman, by filling Tank 5 at the Avoca Treatment Plant, they can then fill Tank 6, which gives people the water pressure they depend on.
Despite the recent success with the pipeline and the temporary booster, Kallman stated that the Avoca plant still sits under Level Red restrictions, affecting the cities of Avoca, Exira, Brayton, Earling, Kirkman, Panama, Persia, Portsmouth, Tennent and Westphalia.
