(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County landfill needs a new monitoring well. Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arbor reported to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday that in a recent DNR inspection there was a need for another monitoring well to verify the water sampling work
Arbor says the landfill is nearing its 30th year which would require its closure and the land would be used for conservation although nobody could build anything on it. Arbor has gotten a bid from Ego Source for the project — it will cost just under $4,000 and he believes that it will be covered in the current budget
The DNR says that they would like the project done by the end of July. The Board of Supervisors approved the contract by a unanimous vote.
