(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors have an ongoing dispute with the Shelley Property in Penn Township over escaped livestock through a broken fence and there was some progress on resolving that at Tuesday’s meeting.
The Supervisors had sent the property’s owners a letter detailing the problem and got a response requested that there trees that needed to be removed in order for the fence to be repaired. Assistant County Attorney Charles Abel put together a contract that basically says the Shelley family will fix the fence once the county removes the trees
Abel says the situation is going slowly because the only communication between the county and the Shelley family is by mail.
In other news, the Board of Supervisors passed five resolutions: 26-01 approves a 3 percent increase in Guthrie County salaries and wages effective July 1; 26-02 authorizes the County Auditor to issue payroll checks; 26-03 authorizes periodic funds transfer from the general supplemental fund to emergency management; 26-04 authorizes periodic funds transfer from rural services fund to secondary roads fund; and 26-05 is a letter supporting the joint competitive highway bridge program grant project.
