(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors voted 3 to 2 to deny the grievance filed by John Rasmussen.
The Supervisors had to hold another special meeting today as they did not finish last Monday’s meeting like they were supposed to.
On May 27th, the Supervisors voted 3-2 to not renew County Engineer John Rasmussen’s contract. The reason, as stated by Supervisor Tim Wichman, was that they wanted to see the county move in a different direction. Rasmussen filed a grievance, and a special meeting was held on Monday, June 23rd. After hearing from Rasmussen and his attorney, Supervisor Brian Shea made a motion to reinstate Rasmussen’s contract for a period of no less than three years, to uphold the grievance, and have the details of the contract hashed out between the attorneys. However, Supervisors Scott Belt, Jeff Jorgensen and Tim Wichman voted Nay. Supervisors Brian Shea and Susan Miller voted Aye. Following the vote, the special meeting was adjourned and no action was actually taken on the grievance in accordance with the County Attorney’s guidelines.
Today, the Supervisors held a lengthy closed session regarding the grievance. When back in open session, a motion was made by Supervisor Tim Wichman to deny the grievance from County Engineer John Rasmussen.
The following comments were made by Supervisors Susan Miller and Brian Shea.
Supervisors Scott Belt, Jeff Jorgensen and Tim Wichman voted Aye on denying the grievance. Supervisors Susan Miller and Brian Shea voted Nay.
