(Des Moines) Iowans are seeing a slight break at the pump this week. According to AAA, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa dropped three cents to $3.03 per gallon, 28 cents lower than this time last year. The national average, meanwhile, rose four cents to $3.23.
While gas prices are down, diesel prices in Iowa climbed 12 cents this week, averaging $3.60 per gallon—9 cents higher than last year but still 12 cents below the current national average of $3.72.
Global crude oil prices also saw significant drops this week. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell $8.77 to $67.77 per barrel, while Brent crude dropped $7.49 to match the same price. This time last year, WTI was selling at $81.97 and Brent at $86.81.
Natural gas at the Henry Hub reporting site decreased 35 cents, now priced at $3.61 per MMbtu.
