(Neola, IA) — The Tri Center baseball team is having a really good season — right now the Trojans stand at 13-3 and two of their three losses are to Underwood with the other coming against Logan Magnolia early in the season and they avenged that loss with a win in the 2nd match up. Against the Eagles, Tri Center only lost the 2nd time 2-1 and they could face Underwood in the substate finals if both teams get that far. Trojans Head Coach Max Kozeal says they faced the Eagles ace Garrett Luett twice now and in the 2nd game they gave themselves a shot to win
Cael Witt continues to lead the team in pitching and hitting — in his 8 starts, the Junior is 7-1 with a 1.93 ERA and at the plate he is batting .447 with 13 RBI and 21 runs. Its not only Witt at the plate but the Trojans are getting production from Senior Carter Kunze (.444, 2, 16) and Junior Tristin Gunderson (.333, 1, 14) has been producing lately says Kozeal
Right now the Trojans are playing second banana to Underwood in the WIC and the Trojans don’t like playing second banana to anyone. Tri Center will have a bye in the first round and will face the winner of Nodaway Valley and West Central Valley in the district semifinals and could face Woodward Granger in the district finals or Ogden or Panorama. Whoever it will be, Kozeal says they will be ready
Tri Center will visit three win Westwood tonight and host Woodbury Central on Monday.
