(Red Oak) The Red Oak baseball team has had some ups and downs this year and currently sit with a record of 10-12. The Tigers started off the year hot going 5-1 in their first six games, but just a handful of games later found themselves on a five game skid. But, Red Oak has won two of its last three as the regular season is about to wrap-up.
The Tigers have a couple of standout sophomores who lead the team in batting average. Catcher Carson Roeder leads the team in multiple categories and is batting .362 on the year while infielder Reese Montgomery is second on the team in average at .346.
Head Coach Mark Erickson says he’s happy with the team’s at bats, despite hits not showing up in the book.
The Tigers have started five seniors in almost every game this season and have shown great leadership on the field.
Erickson says that has helped them in close games and big situations.
As the postseason is upon us, The Tigers have about 10 days to get ready for postseason action. Red Oak will play a double-header against Harlan next week, alongside taking on East Mills and Atlantic, before the postseason starts, where they will play the winner of Treynor and Missouri Valley.
