(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors will need to hold another special meeting on the grievance filed by John Rasmussen.
On May 27th, the Supervisors voted 3-2 to not renew County Engineer John Rasmussen’s contract. The reason, as stated by Supervisor Tim Wichman, was that they wanted to see the county move in a different direction. Rasmussen filed a grievance, and a special meeting was held on Monday. After hearing from Rasmussen and his attorney, Supervisor Brian Shea made a motion to reinstate Rasmussen’s contract for a period of no less than three years, to uphold the grievance, and have the details of the contract hashed out between the attorneys. Supervisors Scott Belt, Jeff Jorgensen and Tim Wichman voted Nay. Supervisors Brian Shea and Susan Miller voted Aye. Following the vote, the special meeting was adjourned.
At Tuesday’s regular Board of Supervisors meeting, Supervisor Susan Miller said the board did not complete that meeting as they should have.
An agenda for the special meeting has not been posted at this time, but Miller stated that they must meet before next Tuesday to remain within the seven-day requirement.
