(Manning, IA) — On Monday evening, the IKM Manning school board voted unanimously to leave the Western Iowa Conference and join the Rolling Valley Conference starting the 2026-27 school year. Athletic Director Cory McCarville says there are many reasons for the switch the most logical is travel
McCarville says that IKM Manning is actually in the geographic center of the RVC with Ar-We-Va, Audubon, Boyer Valley, CAM, Coon Rapids Bayard, Exira EHK, Glidden Ralston, Paton Churdan and Woodbine. He says the coaches were overwhelmingly in supportive of the move and there could be some natural rivalries with their new conference opponents
McCarville is not surprised by all the conference realignment in the western side of the state — he says the dominos have been falling for years and demographics of schools have changed
McCarville says there will be some differences for IKM Manning between the WIC and RVC but mainly in the sports scheduling.
