(Council Bluffs) The Pottawattamie County Supervisors met today to discuss and sign a Law Enforcement Services Contract between Pottawattamie County and the following: The City of Avoca, Carson, Crescent, Hancock, Macedonia, McClelland, Minden, Neola, Oakland, Treynor, Underwood and Walnut. Each city is required to pay a different dollar amount per-capita, based on the 2020 census.
The contract states that these cities will be governed by the services of the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office. Some of the services included are radar operations to control speed, issuing violations under city ordinances, housing inmates who have been incarcerated under a city ordinance without charge to the city and investigation of traffic accidents and complaints.
Supervisor Susan Miller voiced her opinion on what the county deputies should look for.
The Board also approved a letter of support after Minden received a $50,000 grant from T-Mobile’s Hometown Grant Program. The grant will help rebuild Kahler Park, which was damaged by the tornado last summer.
