(Le Mars) Authorities in Plymouth County responded to a report of a possible drowning Saturday evening, June 21, at Kellen’s Ponderosa, a swimming lake located south of Le Mars.
According to a press release from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, a call came in around 7 p.m. regarding a missing 27-year-old man who had been swimming with friends and had not resurfaced. Emergency personnel, including the Plymouth County Dive Team, were dispatched to the scene.
The man’s body was later recovered, and a medical examiner confirmed the cause of death as drowning. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
Multiple agencies assisted with the response, including the Le Mars Police Department, Le Mars Fire and Rescue, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and the Sioux County Dive Team.
