(Audubon, IA) — The Western Iowa Conference is deep in softball pitching and two of the best will battle it out tonight in the circle as Treynor visits Exira EHK Audubon, coverage on KSOM.
The Spartans are led by Sophomore Riley Miller who has a 1.47 ERA with 117 strikeouts in 76 innings, opponents are hitting just .193 against her and she is one of the better hitters in the WIC as well with a .405 average, 7 doubles and 14 RBI. Head Coach Tom Petersen says that Miller has not gotten the hitting support like last year and she is dealing with it
Petersen has been working with the girls on improving the hitting — Anna Larsen is up over 300 points in her batting average from last season, Abby Wanser has been hot as of late. Petersen says they are making adjustments
Exira EHK Audubon’s hitters will face the Cardinals Delaney Matthews who has a 1.69 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 58 innings and opponents hitting .175 against her. Treynor beat the Spartans back on June 5 4-0 but Petersen believes they have a better team than what they fielded earlier this month
Treynor at 10-3 visits Exira EHK Audubon at 8-8, game time is 7:30 tonight, coverage on KSOM.
