(Des Moines) The EMC Expo Center was evacuated Thursday afternoon after a disturbance occurred during the National Speech & Debate Tournament in Des Moines.
According to reports, a man walked onto the stage during the event and displayed behavior that caused safety concerns. As a precaution, the building was cleared and secured.
One person was taken into custody. Police said no weapons were seen or recovered, and no injuries were reported. Entry to the facility was restricted while officers ensured the area was safe.
