(Greenfield, IA) — Nodaway Valley is one of 10 high schools that has received an invitation to join the Western Iowa Conference and they will apparently consider the invite. In a press release from the school system, Athletic Director Sara Honnold will meet with Wolverine coaches to determine the advantages and disadvantages of leaving the Pride of Iowa Conference and joining with WIC or staying put.
The Western Iowa Conference is looking for new members because Audubon and IKM Manning appear to be on their way out of the conference. Audubon has a school board meeting tonight where they will vote on accepting an invitation to join the Rolling Valley Conference. IKM Manning is expected to address the issue at their next school board meeting. If Audubon and IKM Manning leave, the Western Iowa would be down to seven members: AHSTW, Logan-Magnolia, Missouri Valley, Riverside, Treynor, Tri-Center and Underwood.
AC/GC has also received an invite to join the Western Iowa Conference but Athletic Director Taylor Morris told KSOM/KS 95 that there are no plans to leave the West Central Activities Conference at this time. Other schools that have received an invite to join the WIC are Earlham, MVAOCOU, Red Oak, Shenandoah, Southwest Valley, West Central Valley and Westwood. Southwest Valley released a similar statement like Nodaway Valley and will consider the invitation.
The WIC has set a deadline for August 1, 2025 for those schools to make an official decision about the invitation.
