(Creston) One person suffered injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Creston
The Union County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened on Wednesday at around 10:15 a.m. near Cherry Street.
According to the report, 44-year-old Levi Webb Buxton, of Creston, was driving a northbound 1968 John Deere tractor pulling a hay trailer and rake. Buxton attempted to turn into a private driveway at 1331 Cherry Street when 27-year-old Derrick James McLuckie, of Stratford, driving a 2004 Freightliner semi-tractor and trailer, tried to pass from behind. However, the passing maneuver was initiated just before a designated no-passing zone, which began at the driveway of 1331 Cherry Street. Authorities determined the semi would not have been able to complete the pass safely before entering the no-passing zone. The semi struck the rear tire of the tractor, causing the gooseneck portion of the hay trailer to detach and strike Buxton in the back.
Ground ambulance transported Buxton to the Greater Regional Hospital in Creston.
Following the investigation, McLuckie was cited for unsafe passing.
