(Des Moines) Iowans are seeing a slight drop at the gas pump this week, as the average price of regular unleaded gasoline fell 1 cent to $2.94 per gallon, according to AAA. That price is 28 cents lower than this time last year.
Retail diesel prices also declined by a penny this week, averaging $3.31 across Iowa. That’s 24 cents below the price a year ago and 21 cents under the current national diesel average of $3.52.
Nationally, regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.14, down 2 cents from the previous week.
Crude oil prices showed mixed movement. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose by 97 cents to $62.86 per barrel, while Brent crude slipped 12 cents to $64.88. A year ago, WTI traded at $74.27 and Brent at $75.33.
Natural gas prices increased 10 cents this week at the Henry Hub, now sitting at $3.72 per MMbtu.
