(Des Moines) Widespread showers and thunderstorms are forecast for today in southwest Iowa. Donna Dubberke, with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says rain will move into the area and linger most of the day.
Dubberke says the chance for severe weather in southwest Iowa has been downgraded.
Dubberke says a few of these storms may become severe over southeast Iowa this afternoon into early this evening. Gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall are the primary threats—widespread rainfall totals of around 1 inch, with pockets of 2-inch totals from last night through tonight.
