(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council will discuss setting dates for fireworks use during the regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday.
Last month, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 303, which prevents cities and counties in Iowa from prohibiting or limiting the use of fireworks on July 3, 4, and December 31. While Iowans must still adhere to state laws regarding fireworks—such as the ban on sales to minors and the requirement for local permission to use “display” fireworks—local jurisdictions cannot impose any additional restrictions on these specific days. However, local regulations may still be enforced during other times when fireworks are allowed, which is from June 1 to July 8 and December 10 to January 3 each year.
For 2024, the Atlantic City Council has approved the following dates and times for fireworks use: July 3, 4, and 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. This resolution is one of several items on the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
