(Avoca, IA) — After a rain out on Tuesday, the AHSTW Softball team will open their season tonight hosting 2A #2 Exira EHK-Audubon, coverage on KSOM. The Lady Vikes are coming off a 16-9 season but will be going through some transition this year. They only lose one senior in Graycen Partlow but 8th grader and Pitcher Etta Partlow stepped away from softball and starters Bella Lamp and Kendra Hansen will be out for the season with injuries. So Head Coach Katie Pace will have to make adjustments. Senior Loralei Wahling is back in the circle after starting 14 games last season with a 4.47 ERA and Sienna Christian has played some club volleyball but did not play for AHSTW last season
Another pitching option will be Halle Goodman who could hit last season but not pitch. Offensively, the Lady Vikes will be led by Kennedy Wyman who hit .368 last year as an 8th grader and Pace says there is no ceiling on good she can be
Last year, AHSTW had to rely on an 8th grader at catcher Clara Pace but she responded with a .333 batting average and 15 RBI which co led the team with Addison Carroll. Katie Pace says she has become the leader of the team
AHSTW hosts Exira EHK-Audubon tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 pm on KSOM.
