(Waterloo) Columbus Catholic holds the top spot in Class 2A after the opening round of play at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo. The Sailors posted a team score of 14-over-par 302. Panorama currently sits in sixth place out of 12 teams with a 322, while Kuemper is in ninth at 331.
West Marshall’s Hunter Polley leads all golfers after shooting a 3-under-par 69. Columbus Catholic’s Drew Lindsay is close behind with a 2-under 70, followed by Lake Mills’ Austin Stenel, who carded a 1-under 71.
Panorama’s Parker Cary is part of a six-way tie for fifth place after firing a 3-over 75. His teammates turned in the following scores: Bryce Dawes and Brayden Galvin each shot 82, Zander Hammerstrom carded an 83, Cole Carstens finished with a 90, and Eli Hammstrom shot 94.
Kuemper was led by junior Braxton Vonnahme, who shot a 78 and is tied for 17th individually. Kayden Schon added an 82, Jack Lenz shot 84, Dawson Billmeier 87, while Teddy Perkins and Garrett Babe each finished with a 90.
