(Oakland, IA) — Riverside is adding Grand View University alum Kyler Morgan to their baseball coaching staff after an 8-14 season with an early postseason exit in 2024. The team also saw six seniors graduate, and will have a lot of underclassmen who will get to see the field in varsity play for the first time. Morgan is new to the district, and is excited to hit the diamond.
With a large chunk of the Bulldogs’ bullpen being replaced by newer talent, Morgan says that the team is going to see a lot of new exposure.
When it comes to pitching, Morgan says that putting balls in the strike zone is the biggest priority as well as minimizing walks.
Aaron Smith is coming off an excellent sophomore season notching .341 and batting in a team-leading 16 runs, and is someone to keep your eyes on according to Morgan.
The Bulldogs have a busy opening week with four games scheduled, starting off with two games on home turf against Tri-Center thisTuesday and West Monona on Wednesday. The team will then travel to Treynor on Thursday and Logan-Magnolia on Friday.
