(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council discussed the second reading of a number of ordinances that would reduce the speed limits in certain areas of 29th Street and Chestnut Street.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, the Council heard from several residents who were in favor of reducing the speed limits as well as adding a four-way stop sign at 29th Street and Palm Street.
Christina Bateman noted that the neighborhood has changed significantly over the past 10 years and now has many children.
Katrina Sonntag echoed what Christina said and also presented eight additional letters from members of her neighborhood who would like to see the speed limits reduced and a four-way stop.

After a lengthy discussion, the Council took the following actions:
Approved the second reading of Ordinance 1052 adding a four-way stop sign at 29th Street and Palm Street.
Approved the second reading of Ordinance 1050 for no parking on 10th Street from Locust Street to the east Alley to the north side of the road.
The Council tabled the second reading of Ordinance 1051 reducing the Speed Limit from 35 Miles Per Hour to 25 Miles Per Hour on Chestnut Street from 29th Street to the Southern City Limits.
A motion on the second reading of Ordinance 1053, reducing the speed on 29th Street from 35 mph to 25 mph from Chestnut to Palm Street, failed on a 3-3 vote.
The second reading of Ordinance 1054, reducing the speed limit from 50 Miles Per Hour to 35 Miles Per Hour on 29th Street Between Palm Street and the 700 Block of West 29th Street, failed for a lack of a second.
The Council would like these ordinances to go back to committee for review.
Meanwhile, the second reading of Ordinance 1055, reducing the Speed Limit to 35 Miles Per Hour on 22nd Street Between Palm Street and Chestnut Street, was approved by the Council.
