(Audubon, IA) Exira-EHK and Audubon will be joining again this summer for the softball program, and after very successful season in which they were the 2A state runner-up with a loss to Van Meter, they need to replace a lot of production. The team loses six seniors from last season in some very impact spots. Replacing the starting catcher and centerfielder are going to be the biggest spots to replace this summer.
Under the Spartan mascot this year, Exira-EHK Audubon do return two very valuable players in a pair of Sophomores, Riley Miller and Taryn Petersen.
Head coach Tom Petersen says if they want to be successful this season, it will have to be done by committee.
With a ton of new faces in the team this summer and a ton of games on the calendar, Exira-EHK Audubon softball will have to lean on some of those players returning like Riley Miller, who despite being a young player, already has two full seasons under her belt as starting pitcher.
With starting spots up for grabs, Petersen is looking for hustle in practice to determine who gets the nod in the starting lineup.
Exira-EHK Audubon softball will start their regular season off on the road against IKM-Manning Tuesday, May 27th, starting at 7 pm.
