(Red Oak) Two people sustained minor injuries in a three-vehicle collision Saturday in Red Oak.
According to the Red Oak Police Department, the incident occurred when a 2009 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Collin Nathaniel Evans of Malvern, was heading north on Broadway Street and attempted a left turn onto Oak Street. As Evans turned, his vehicle entered the path of a southbound 2012 GMC Acadia SUV driven by Hallie Straw of Villisca. The SUV struck the Hyundai on the passenger side, causing it to spin into a 2021 Chevy Silverado pickup driven by Brett Elliot Hosch of Johnston, who was stopped at a traffic light preparing to turn south onto Broadway.
Two occupants of the SUV were transported by Red Oak Rescue to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Damage estimates for the vehicles involved totaled approximately $16,000: $10,000 for the Hyundai Sonata (declared a total loss), $5,000 for the SUV (sustained disabling damage), and $1,000 in minor damage to the Silverado.
Collin Evans was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn and for driving without a valid license.
Emergency response was provided by Red Oak Police, Red Oak Rescue, the Red Oak Fire Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Dispatch, and Montgomery County EMA.
