(Greenfield, IA) — At the beginning of the season, CAM Golf Head Coach Joe Wollum was excited that the IHSAA had expanded the number of teams to qualify from Sectionals and Districts from 2 to 3. On Wednesday, CAM didn’t need the expansion to move on — the Cougars were the Sectional Champs, shooting a team score of 331 ahead of Woodbine 344 and Riverside 353 but all three teams will advance to Monday’s Districts.
CAM’s Chase Jahde was the overwhelming Sectional Champ, shooting an even par 70 on the tough Greenfield Country Club. Players seem to have problems putting the ball in the fairway and reading the greens and even a double bogey for Jahde did not derail his round — he finished with 4 birdies, 2 bogeys, a double and the rest pars on his round. Other scores for the Cougars: Coby Venteicher 84, Austin Eblen 86, Braxton Dennis 91, Chase Spieker 94, and Madden Cary 97.
Riverside was led by Peyton Amdor who was tied for 4th with an 84; Nathan Smith 87, Austin Zimmerman and Taven Moore 91, James McCready 93, and AC Roller 103.
Hogan Hook of Griswold qualified individually for Districts, finishing in 6th place with an 85.
Ty Rardin of Nodaway Valley used the home course advantage to qualify individually for Districts with an 82 which was third place overall.
Xander Johnson of Woodbine finished 2nd with an 80.
Alex Hansen had the low round for Exira EHK with a 91.
Sayer Bireline Huss for AC/GC shot an 86 and finished tied for 7th and missed qualifying for Districts by one stroke.
