(Greenfield, IA) — Nodaway Valley track and field teams competed on Thursday night in Griswold and had some solid performances. On the girls side, Maddie Weston won the 100 meter dasah breaking the 13 seconds mark for the first time this season at 12.94 seconds. She also got a season PR in the 200 of 27.28 and finished 2nd. Head Coach Brett Welsch says she has had to overcome a back injury to run well so far this season
Izzy Eisbach also won the 1500 for the Wolverines with a time of 5:19.69 and she anchored the girls Distance Medley Relay which knocked almost a full minute off of their time, running a 4:39.97 with their previous best time of 5:34.07 — Weston, Haisley Zoubek, Kylie Nelson were the others that were part of the “D Med.”
On the boys side, Trent Warner continues to be reliable winning both throws, getting 51–1 in the Shot Put and 145-00.50 in the Discus. Welsch says you know what you get when it comes to Warner
Also for the Wolverines, Eli Harris was 4th in the 400 Hurdles with a season PR of 59.97, getting below one minute for the first time. Cassius Burnside got a season PR in the 100 of 11.67 and finished 4th. Gabe Winkelmann was 2nd in the 3200 and 3rd in the 1600. Overall Welsch told his team that there are 2 weeks left until State Track Qualifying so he wants everyone to finish strong
Next up for the Wolverines they will host the Pride of Iowa Conference meet on Monday.
