(Underwood, IA) — For the last three years, Underwood has dominated the Western Iowa Conference in Boys Track and Field — the Eagles have three straight conference titles and with the meet coming up next Tuesday, the team is getting ready. Two Underwood runners — Lucas Bose and Sam Hulsing — qualified for the Drake Relays in one event — the 110 Hurdles which is no small achievement says Head Coach Tyler Ridder
With two strong 110 High runners, you naturally assume that Underwood has a strong Shuttle Hurdle relay and they do — its currently ranked 8th in Class 2A which would put them on the medal stand at state. Ridder says they had a slow start but are coming off as of late
Underwood has a good sprinter in Junior Riley Sealock — he ranks 15th in the 100 meter dash in Class 2A and 18th in the 400 but those times have not been able to come down lately because he has been on the sidelines
The Eagles also have a strong shot putter in Junior Ryker Adair who ranks 9th in Class 2A and Sophomore Tayden Hull ranks 7th in the 400 Hurdles. Underwood is scheduled to compete at the Dave Tapps Invitational at Van Meter today with Ankeny Christian, CAM, Central Decatur, Creston, Earlham, Madrid Boys, MSM, Mount Ayr, Red Oak Boys, and West Central Valley
