(Red Oak) During a Tuesday report to the Board of Supervisors, Montgomery County Auditor Jill Ozuna indicated that the County’s computer server experienced 100 percent CPU usage when it went offline on April 8 and 9. CPU usage is often a sign of the processor’s level of stress.
Audio PlayerOzuna noted several servers experienced corruption after the reboot because of the abrupt shutdown. She says that after the servers were back online and stabilized, power was accidentally disconnected from one due to the relocation of a battery backup unit. The power cable was nudged, which caused another abrupt shutdown, which crashed the primary courthouse server.
Audio PlayerOzuna says that they are currently reviewing the network infrastructure and implementing changes, so if an issue like this happens, it will not impact the county as much and will reduce the turnaround time.
