Mushroom Foray and Bioluminescent Mushroom Art
Nature lovers and fungi enthusiasts alike are invited to a unique, mushroom-filled day on Saturday, May 24, as Shelby County Conservation hosts two events celebrating the fascinating world of wild mushrooms.
The day kicks off with a Mushroom Foray from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Elk Horn Creek Recreation Area. Participants are welcome to arrive and depart at their leisure during this "come and go" event, which will begin at the shelter house atop the hill. Join an expert guide for an afternoon of foraging and explore everything from edible varieties to poisonous and unusual fungi. No experience or prior knowledge is necessary.
Later that evening, the fun continues with Bioluminescent Mushroom Art at 7:00 p.m. at the Nishna Bend Nature Center. Guests will delve into the glowing world of biofluorescent fungi and even have the chance to decorate themselves using materials inspired by nature’s luminescent wonders.
