(Elliott) Firefighters from Elliott, Red Oak, Grant, and Griswold responded to a pole barn fire Sunday afternoon in Elliott.
According to Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce, crews were dispatched at 12:40 p.m. to a property west of 92 Main Street, where a large detached pole barn was fully engulfed in flames. Upon arrival, firefighters launched defensive ground operations. However, the collapse of the structure’s roof made suppression efforts difficult, prompting the need for an excavator to assist with debris removal.
Chief Bruce reported that the fire was controlled by 2:27 p.m., and Elliott firemen concluded ground operations at 3:40 p.m. No injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters.
The Elliott, Red Oak, Grant, and Griswold Fire Departments, Montgomery County Communications, MidAmerican Utilities, Elliott Public Works, and a privately owned excavator assisted at the scene.
