(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors approved the FY 2025-26 Budget following a public hearing Tuesday morning.
Becky Lenihan, Finance & Tax Officer, thanked the Supervisors for all the hard work they put into the budget.
Audio PlayerThe Supervisors also approved a resolution regarding the Board’s recommendation for elected officials for FY 2025-2026. Supervisor Susan Miller said the Supervisors assumed the Compensation Board’s responsibilities in determining salaries for elected officials.
Audio PlayerThe Supervisors heard from County Attorney Matt Wilber who stated the Supervisors were ignoring the elected officials and also the law.
Audio PlayerWilber noted that the law changed in 2024, which altered the duties of the Compensation Board. He also mentioned that new “show your work” requirements now apply, and stated that the Supervisors did not show their work.

Audio PlayerFollowing the approval of the resolution, the Supervisors moved into a discussion regarding wage increases for non-union employees. The Board recommended a 3.25 percent increase. Ultimately, the Supervisors took no action on the resolution, as they wanted to revise the language concerning step increases.
