(Anita) CAM Community School District Announces New Jr./Sr. High School Principal The CAM Community School District is excited to welcome Mrs. Shannon Almelien as the new Jr./Sr. High School Principal.
According to the press release, with a deep-rooted passion for student success and over 25 years of experience in education, Mrs. Almelien brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the district. She serves at South Page Elementary School as an Instructional Coach, Curriculum Coach, and K-6 School Counselor, supporting students and educators in achieving excellence.
Before her current role, Mrs. Almelien worked at Clarinda Community School District as the 9-12 School Counselor and previously as the 9-12 Band Director from 2003 to 2011. Her diverse background uniquely positions her to lead with insight, empathy, and a commitment to the holistic development of the child.
Mrs. Almelien has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to educational growth throughout her career. She has collaborated with teachers to refine instructional strategies and improve student outcomes, led comprehensive curriculum reviews in math, science, and reading, and enhanced school-community connections by redesigning school websites and social media platforms to showcase district achievements better.
Mrs. Almelien holds a Bachelor of Science from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, and a Master of Science in Education from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. “I feel privileged and eager to join the CAM Jr./Sr High School educational team. Throughout the interview process, it became clear that this school is deeply committed to supporting the concepts of team and family.
I look forward to contributing to the school’s strong tradition of excellence, collaboration, and community,” stated Almelien.
