(Greenfield, Iowa) At approximately 12:45 a.m. on April 19, 2025, the Adair County Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a stabbing in the 200 block of NE 4th Street in Greenfield.
Officers from the Greenfield Police Department responded to the scene and discovered a deceased Hispanic male inside the residence. Yudiel Vega-Blanco, 39, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Adair County Jail.
A second individual at the residence was identified as a victim and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Authorities believe this to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Yudiel Vega-Blanco has been charged with Murder in the First Degree, a Class A felony, and Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, a Class D felony.
The Greenfield Police Department is receiving assistance from the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, the Adair County Attorney’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
