(Greenfield, IA) — The Nodaway Valley boys and girls golf teams will be back on the course today. The girls have had just one meet so far and Junior Mallory Russell was the runner up at Griswold with a 48 — 1 of only 2 golfers that day to break 50. Russell was the #2 last year to Ashlyn Gutierrez who graduated and Head Coach Julie Hartman says she is the #1 this year but still has some work to do in the short game
Audio PlayerSenior Delaney Blomme, Junior Brailyann Coffman will be #2 and #3. Freshman Taryn Gutierrez has some promise and can hit the ball just lacks experience says Hartman. Freshman Aleyah Pilgreen and Junior Chloe Rardin are new to the game but will play varsity because the Wolverines have just 6 players.
On the boys side, Nodaway Valley edged Griswold 208 to 210 in their opener and they are led by Sophomore Sam Miller
Audio PlayerThe top three players are sophomores and the #4 player is a freshman so this is an extremely young team at the top.
