(Red Oak) Red Oak firefighters battle two fire simultaneously on Wednesday afternoon. Communications dispatched the department at 3:57 p.m. to a vehicle fire in the 900 block of Oakwood Ave. At the time of the call, the department was already responding to two other incidents.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says once on scene fire crews discovered a passenger vehicle with flames originating from the engine compartment and spreading into the interior. Firefighters quickly contained the fire to the vehicle, which was ultimately deemed a total loss.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. The first arriving engine was assigned to fire suppression, while the department’s new wildland grass truck was utilized to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby field.
Fireground operations concluded without incident.
