(Iowa City) The sixth-seeded Hawkeyes will face 11th-seed Murray State on Saturday in the first round of the women’s NCAA Tournament. The winner will face the winner of the Oklahoma vs Florida Gulf Coast game.
The Hawkeyes enter the NCAA Tournament with a 22-10 record, pretty much on par with the 18-9 in the (slightly shortened) COVID-19 season of 2020-21. That Iowa team had a No. 5 seed and stormed to the Sweet 16.
Murray State has made the postseason six times, once in the NCAA Tournament (2008), and five times in the WNIT (1989, 2007, 2009, 2022, and 2024). The Racers are 25-7 and enter post-season play, having won ten straight games.
