(Washington DC) House Republicans approved a stopgap spending bill Tuesday that would keep the government funded for about six months.
Zach Nunn, who represents Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, said trying to get the entire budget done in six weeks was not going to be a reality, so this resolution allows them to move forward with the appropriations process.
The legislation must pass the Senate before a Friday midnight deadline to avoid a partial government shutdown.
Zach Nunn highlighted the tax cut package in the House bill. He said House Republicans have been leaning on a tax package that would prevent some massive tax challenges for middle-income families.
Nunn said it’s important to note that in Iowa he is fighting to make sure that the death tax exemption for two-million family owned farms also does not receive a 50-percent tax increase. For small businesses, Nunn said he just led legislation in Congress to pass the Corporate Transparency Act, which eliminates regulation burdens on 32-million small businesses.
